About

What is this?

This was created originaly in my spare time to assist with IP Address tracking for a small UK Hosting company (who were previously using an excel spreadsheet, with no way of tracking IPv6!).

When developing this, multi-tennant support and support from IPv6 were considered from the very beginning to allow this to be useful to a wide range of people beyond the initial use case.

As mentioned, this was initially to replace an excel spreadsheet, so functionality is quite basic right now. Organisations have groups, which contain subnets. Subnets have some meta data attached to them, but otherwise it's pretty basic.

More features are planned, but everything is developed as and when it is asked for, or I find a need for it myself.

What is this not?

Pretty looking. I'm not a designer, I'm a sysadmin come network-engineer who also has a fairly strong programming background. Maybe one day it will look better, but for now this will do me. Thank god for bootstrap or heaven knows what it would have ended up looking like...

This is also not a replacement for the multi-thousand dollar IP Tracking software that exists, or at least not on it's own.

It does not have support for automatically scanning networks, or many of the advanced features of these packages. However combined with the JSON API it's possible for people to develop their own front-ends without needing to reinvent anything.

What are the limitations?

To start with, new organisations are limited to 512 IPv4 Addresses (enough for a /23), to allow people to test the system to see if it does what they want. If you need more, just get in touch and a higher allowance can be added.

What if I want to export my data?

Everything you see on this website is accessed via the JSON API. If you can see it here, you can get it using the API. If you get stuck, please get in touch.

Can you add X?

I'm certainly open to ading new features if required by people, feel free to get in touch.

How much does it cost?

Nothing!

At least for now anyway. Obviously hosting costs aren't free, but the intention is to closely monitor usage with controlled limits. Maybe in the future charging will be required, but if this is required, the intention is to "Grandfather" any current users, and only charge for increasing limits.

What about the source code, can I have it?

At the moment, no. Sorry.

How can I get in touch?

Sending an email to contact@manageips.net is a good start.

Alternatively you can contact "Dataforce" on Twitter or Quakenet IRC
